Five fundamentalanimal freedoms
The commitment to ensuring animal welfare is among the priorities of JBS’ global agenda, respecting the demands of customers, consumers and society, and also the precepts of valuing life. The Company’s operations are benchmarked to best practices and, are in line with the five fundamental freedoms of animals, as defined by the Farm Animal Welfare Council (FAWC). The Company creates partnerships with producers around the world to ensure they abide by this agenda, while also maintaining specialized species-specific teams that adopt constantly revised techniques and encourage producers to provide the animals with the best treatment possible.
At all processing units, multidisciplinary teams are responsible for ensuring compliance with the policies and procedures required by animal welfare programs. Any violations of the Company’s Animal Welfare Program (Programa de Bem-Estar Animal) by team members or suppliers may result in disciplinary processes that could lead to termination of employment or contracts with suppliers.
All operations comply with local laws and technical standards, as well as the principles of animal freedom and humane slaughter. For commercial reasons, the company adopts religious guidelines that respect the cultural characteristics and diversity of the markets in which it operates.
OurPig Farm
Selected Genetic
Grandparen’ s Farm
Everything begins in the field whereon the farms. We select special genetics that will produce our porks. This is known as a grandparent’s farm. In this space, the best piglets are chosen to be sows. There, sows grow and thrive on the grandparent’ ;s farm, and with approximately six months of life, they’ re transferred to the maternity farms.
Maternity
Birth and the first card
On maternity farms. sows receive special care. When they reach fertile age, they begin to generate piglets. Each gestatation lasts, on average, 114 days (3 months, weeks, days) of gestation. A sow generates with her for about a month when they’re weaned. This period is very important to ensure the proper formation of the piglets so they adapt well when they go to nurseries.
Nurseries
Health & Development
This is one of the most important stages in the lives of piglets. This is the place where they grow and develop in a healthy way, in a well-being environment until reaching approximately two months of life. This is an essential stage, sio producers must take care of piglets.
Growing Farms
Propet weight & quality of meat
When they leave the nursery, the piglets are sent to the growing farm. At this stage, wich lasts approximately four months, the animal grows & gains weight until they reach its ideal size. The food is carefully selected to ensure the desired ualities of meat and far.
Broiler Farms
Audit & Quality
The animal’s slaughter is done at Seara’s own facilities. The entire process is inspected & supervised by the S.I.F (Federal Inspection Service) & the quality agents of the company.
The entire process follows strict standards of excellence, to meet the demands of consumers in Brazil & internationally.
About Us
Our ChickenFarms
Grandparent’s Farm
The chicken that arrives at our table is part of the third generation of a supersized lineage. Her story begins here with her grandparents, who come from Brazil as well as from the United States and England.
Incubator
The eggs of the grandparent chicken are taken to the incubator, where they will remain in an environment with a similar temperature and humidity, to the nests of the hatching chickens. So, they will born naturally.
Brooding Farms
The grandparent chickens produce birds called parentes hens, the chicken’s “parents”. They are raised on this farm until they reach their fertile age.
Food Factories
All pellets provided for grandmothers, parents, and chickens are produced in-house. The food is composed of carbohydrates, proteins, minerals, and vitamins to meet all the growth, maintenance, and health needs of the animals.
Reproduction Farm
When they reach theur fertuke age, the chickens are received here, where they mate. Then eheir eggs are placed in incubators similar to those of the grandparent chickens. After birth, the chicks, are sent to the next farm.
The chicks arrive at SEARA’s partner farms when they are one day old and are raised in the best conditions of animal welfare and nutrition.
Refrigeration and Industrialization
When it reaches the stage of industrialization, the chicken meat is prepared for consumption.
